David Matheson, Ph.D. Co-Founder, President and CEO |
David has helped Senior management of firms in the United States and Europe improve their results from portfolio management, product development, innovation, R&D, capital investment and strategy, and is an expert on measuring value and managing uncertainty.
His practical experience covers a wide variety of industries, including printing, software development, biotechnology, telecommunications, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, manufacturing, electric power and entertainment.
He is co-author of the best selling book, The Smart Organization: Creating Value through Strategic R&D (Harvard Business School Press) and has authored numerous articles on innovation, portfolio management and decision making.
In addition to being at the helm of SmartOrg, he is currently a member of the board at Photozini, Inc. and a Fellow with the Society of Decision Professionals. Prior to founding SmartOrg in 2000, a principal at Strategic Decisions Group.
His Ph.D. is from Stanford University, where he currently teaches on Strategic Portfolio Management and other topics at the Stanford Center for Professional Development.

Jim is a world recognized leader in the development and application of decision analysis. In recognition of his career, he was awarded the Ramsey Medal, the highest honor in the field of decision analysis, for managing and developing the world’s first decision analysis group at SRI International, and for decades of contribution to the principles and applications of decision analysis. After SRI, he co-founded and was a managing director of Strategic Decision Group (SDG), where he served as Chief Technology Officer and developed their R&D consulting practice.
In addition to his professional practice, Dr. Matheson has been a Consulting Professor in the Department of Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University since 1967, where he regularly teaches courses and supervises graduate students. Dr. Matheson is currently a Fellow with the Society of Decision Professionals. He holds a BS from the Carnegie-Mellon University, an MS and a Ph.D. from Stanford University, and is a Fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS). With David Matheson, he co-authored the highly acclaimed book, The Smart Organization: Creating Value through Strategic R&D (Harvard Business School Press).

Since its founding in 2000, Don Creswell has lead sales and marketing for SmartOrg. In addition to directing domestic and international sales, he manages partner alliances, writes ValuePoint™, our monthly e-newsletter, directs webinar and conference programs and leads our partnership with SAP.
He is currently a Fellow with the Society of Decision Professionals. Prior to founding SmartOrg, Don held senior management and executive positions at SDG Decision Systems, the Decision Quality Association, SRI International, Pan American World Airways and RCA Corporation.

Peter has assisted senior management in decision making and value optimization in industries such as telecommunications, automotive, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, and electric power. He also specializes in training and developing software decision aids such as Portfolio Navigator™ and Supertree. He is co-author of Decision Analysis for the Professional, now in its fourth edition. He is an expert in the development and application of decision analysis software.
Peter is a Fellow with the Society of Decision Professionals. His Ph.D. is in physics from Stanford University.

development to the
SmartOrg software engineering team, including
development of trading
systems for equities, options and risk analysis for high
profile
Wall Street firms.
