SmartOrg Chairman Named INFORMS Fellow
MENLO PARK, CA, 5 November, 2004 (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) — James. E. Matheson, co-founder and chairman of SmartOrg Inc. has been named a Fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) in recognition of outstanding contributions, achievements, and service that have advanced the profession of operations research and the management sciences.
Dr. Matheson was presented with his award at the 3rd Annual Award Ceremony at the Institute’s annual meeting in Denver. He also holds The Frank P. Ramsey Medal for distinguished contributions in decision analysis, presented to him by INFORMS in 1995.
In addition to his post at SmartOrg Inc., Dr. Matheson is a consulting professor to the Department of Management Science and Engineering of Stanford University. He is author or co-author of numerous professional papers on the subjects of decision analysis, strategic decision making and related topics. With David Matheson, he is co-author of “The Smart Organization: Creating Value through Strategic R&D” (Harvard Business School Press, 1998).
