CompTIA Announces Winners of Inaugural Software Innovation AwardsEleven companies honored at Breakaway conference

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., August 7, 2007 -- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.

Eleven companies that have made technological or business model breakthroughs in the highly competitive software market have been recognized by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) with SoftwareCEO/CompTIA Software Innovation Awards for 2007.

The inaugural awards were presented at CompTIA’s Breakaway conference, the information technology industry’s premier partnering and educational event, held earlier this month in Las Vegas, Nev.

“The software industry is driven by its ability to develop innovative ideas; and to turn those innovations into products that deliver real business value to customers,” said David Sommer, vice president, e-business and software solutions, CompTIA, and publisher of SoftwareCEO. “These companies are at the forefront of innovation, and we are pleased to recognize their achievements.”

GenAudio of Englewood, Colo., won the award for Company Achievement in Innovation for AstoundSound™, a product that integrates seamlessly with consumer applications and provides professional audio production solutions through a minimum of two speakers or headphones.

Two companies received awards for Most Innovative Enterprise Software.

Bit9 Inc. of Cambridge, Mass., won for its Parity™ product, the only application and device control solution that provides complete real-time visibility and control over all software running on every desktop in an environment.

SmartOrg of Menlo Park, Calif., was recognized for Decision Advisor, a powerful business modeling tool that enables users to design, build and analyze business models in a fraction of the time they would spend developing models using conventional methods.

The award for Most Innovative General Business Software was presented to Jive Software of Portland, Ore., for Clearspace, an enterprise software product built for teams, companies and communities looking for an easy and productive way to work with each other without time or location limitations.

Two companies were recognized for Most Innovative Service or Business Model.

CI Radar of Norcross, Ga., is an application service provider focused on the competitive intelligence needs of business. Its solutions provide current and on-going intelligence information about competitors, prospects, partners, customers, industry developments, and internal vulnerabilities.

OpSource of Santa Clara, Calif., was honored for its On-Demand solution, which helps companies to offer web applications on-demand and software as a service, providing everything that’s needed so companies can focus on building great applications, accelerating time to market and boosting sales.

The award for Most Innovative Small and Medium-Sized Infrastructure Software went to Entellium, Inc. of Seattle for Rave™, the first cutting-edge “Smart Client” sales optimization solution geared toward helping sales.

Macrovision Corporation of Santa Clara, Calif., won the award for Most Innovative Software for the Software Industry for its FLEXnet Publisher Licensing Module, which offers users content protection, digital rights management and software licensing solutions to enable businesses to maximize the value of their digital content and software products.

The award for Most Innovative Software Idea was presented to rPath™ of Raleigh, N.C., a company that is pioneering the software appliance approach for application distribution and management.

Two companies received awards for Most Innovative Vertical Industry Software.

Catalis, Inc., of Austin, Texas, was singled out for Accelerator®, the world's first graphical health record software, designed to help physicians and other medical professionals easily and quickly input high amounts of patient medical information into a computer system without slowing doctors down.

NGRAIN Corporation of Vancouver, Canada, won an award for its 3D PDA Viewer, a 3D performance support solutions for the military, defense manufacturing, commercial aviation, and energy industries.

SoftwareCEO is a resource-packed electronic newsletter and web portal built by software executives for software executives.
